About the Artist
Kevin Poorman
Kevin's love of the visuals arts stems from his early upbringing; he grew up working in a family-owned artist supplies and picture framing business in Southern Indiana. He fondly recalls the many artists in his youth who generously shared with him their time, talent and creative spirits.
Over the years, Kevin was drawn to working with pen and ink, acrylic and enamel paints as his preferred media. In his early years, his compositions and style mostly involved realism, focusing on the landscapes and structures common to Southern Indiana. During the middle years, his interest moved to abstract techniques. Today he enjoys creating folk-art themed works of historical American towns and venues in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.
Kevin has participated in various art groups and activities over the years, including membership as an associate (juried-in) artist with the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, Virginia.
